INCLUSION TRAINING
THE INCLUSION PROJECT

Agenda for Children operates the Inclusion Project which trains and supports child care professionals in Louisiana who include, or would like to include, young children with disabilities in their programs. The Project is designed to strengthen the role that early childhood professionals have in the provision of services to children with disabilities and their families through workshops and follow-up assistance.

SCOPE OF TRAINING
Understanding inclusion in early childhood settings and recognizing the strengths and needs of young children are tools for the successful integration of children with different abilities into the child care setting. The program incorporates training in health and safety, accessible environments, guiding behavior, communication skills, community resources, partnerships with families in assisting children with disabilities. The laws affecting centers and their admission of children with disabilities are also addressed in this program.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Child Care Centers, Family Child Care Providers, and Parents caring for young children with disabilities in the context of quality early childhood practices are encouraged to participate.
