Right From Birth workshops are presented in a series
giving step-by-step advice on how adults can prepare children
for a lifetime of learning from the day they are born. The
focus is on the child's total development - how growth, learning,
social interactions, emotional development and communication
all interact and depend on one another. It's goal is to give
participants a fuller appreciation of a child's wonderful
accomplishments during the first eighteen months and a more
balanced and enjoyable approach to parenting or caregiving.
The program includes a booklet that covers simple and practical
advice on helping prepare children for learning from the day
they are born.
The twelve-part series features nationally recognized child
development experts Dr. Craig T. Ramey, Dr. Sharon L. Ramey
and Dr. Kyle Pruett. The series is based on the best-selling
parenting guide, Right from Birth: Building Your Child's
Foundation for Life by the Rameys.
The authors of the book have organized the best scientific
findings into "Seven Essentials" that children need
in their everyday lives and they show how to provide them
as a baby grows. They also give specific ideas for these essentials
at different stages of a baby's life.
Their recommendations are all based on the best that research
- and generations of successful parents - can offer. They
are also practical, flexible, and appropriate in today's new
world of child care arrangements, diverse family lifestyles,
and broad array of aspirations.
