Agenda for Children

Regional ECHO Fund

The Early Childhood Opportunity Fund is offering a very special mini-grant opportunity for Type III centers and family child care providers. As part of our efforts to better support the early childhood sector, we are using $50,000 of the revenue we have raised through the School Readiness Tax Credit program to offer mini-grants of up to $1,000 to Type III centers and family child care providers registered with the Child Care Assistance Program in the following parishes: Assumption, Lafourche, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Terrebonne and Washington. Please note that centers in New Orleans are not eligible for this particular round of ECHO grants.

Who Can Apply for a Mini-Grant

Type III centers and family child care providers registered with the Child Care Assistance Program in the following parishes: Assumption, Lafourche, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Terrebonne and Washington. Note that Early Head Start/Head Start-only centers are not eligible, but private centers that participate in EHS Child Care Partnerships are eligible to apply.

How Mini-Grant Funds Can Be Used

Funds can only be used for classroom materials (including books), professional development for staff, curriculum implementation and/or technology to support GOLD implementation. If your center participates in coaching, we highly encourage you to work with your coach to help assess what your highest needs are right now and select quality, developmentally appropriate materials. We also encourage you to use ITERS and ECERS checklists to help you identify materials that can support children's growth and learning.

How to Apply for a Mini-Grant

To be considered for a mini-grant, early childhood program owners/directors must fill out the application (including uploading a budget and, if applicable, an online "shopping cart" showing items you would like to purchase) by December 13, 2019. Only complete applications from Type III centers or family child care homes registered with the CCAP program will be considered. Programs may request up to $1,000 total.

Please read the application and budget template thoroughly. If you would like to preview the application before filling it out, we have a PDF available here.

How Grantees Will Be Selected

At least 50 grantees will be selected, for a total of $50,000 in grants. If more programs apply than we have funding available, we will award grants based on several criteria:

What Will Happen If Your Application is Approved

Applicants will be notified of their status by December 31, 2019. If your application is approved, Agenda will issue you a check to purchase the materials (or professional development). You will then purchase the materials and provide documentation (receipts and pictures) of how the funds were spent using a reporting template provided by Agenda for Children.

Do not purchase materials now-grants can only be used for purchases made after the start of the grant term. Programs that fail to provide appropriate documentation of expenses or that purchase materials outside of what was requested may be disqualified from future grant opportunities.
